SUVANNE – LIVING TEA MINDFULLNESS
Our tea is pure
There are no added aromas (artificial or natural) or other flavorants added to our teas and the tea was grown without agrochemicals (e.g. pesticides). However we can’t say our tea is organic because that would require an organic certificate. The most important thing is our own experience about the purity of the tea. Years of meditative tea drinking and brewing has taught us sensitivity to notice if there is something strange in the tea (e.g. bad storage or pesticide). We also put a lot of effort in storing the tea in the best way possible.
Our tea is very high quality
The whole process of our tea – growing environment, growing, processing the leaves and storage has to be of high quality.
Our tea is medicine
On top of the purity and top quality our tea has good medicinal properties. Our tea should be rather compared with other superfoods or natural medicines than tea that is normally available in shops. In order to achieve the medicinal effects the tea has to be brewed and drunk in a suitable way. When you drink a nice tea in this way it removes stress very effectively which has countless health benefits. In addition tea has neverending depth if you want to go for it…
Teas which come from the birthplace of tea, Yunnan province (e.g. pu’er) in China and other dark teas (black teas in East-Asia) have the most medicinal potential. Simplified, the effect of a medicinal tea is pleasant, relaxing, but still invigorating. Some teas are more warming and some more cooling. When you learn how to listen to your body while drinking tea you will find out which tea suits you best which time of the day.
Our goal in the tea ceremony is to offer the guest as good a tea experience as possible.
Usually this means a happy, relaxed but awake state where you will forget your everyday troubles. Some call this state of mind meditation but there is no dogma attached to our ceremonies. Our tea ceremony should not be confused with Japanese or Chinese tea ceremonies (e.g. ones you can see in tea shops or youtube). Although some similarities exist with them they are quite different. Our ceremonies are not part of any religion or school. The main focus is to just sit still and enjoy the tea. Sometimes a strong tea experience can release emotional trauma. Our ceremonies usually last 1–1,5 hours and the introduction can be held in Finnish or English.
The taste of the tea is not our only focus but all the aspects of the ceremony have to work together and be of high quality. Taste, smell, mouthfeel, cha qi (energy of the tea) and the atmosphere all play an important role. Often we use pu’er tea from old ancient trees or aged pu’er in our ceremonies. We have found that these teas generally offer the strongest positive effects on the body and mind. But all our events are tailored to the unique situation and guests so we use other types of tea if it fits.
